Maxi-Trax with 13 HP Honda

A Maxi-Trax stands far apart from a typical trailer frame sawmill. We use a complete standard ground track as one section, then we add the 2"X6"X3/16" frame as a totally separate frame. The two are truss welded together to make a fully rigid unit that only requires its' 4 self-contained backhoe style levelers. It costs more money to produce this type of track system but we have found that it is the only way to produce the consistent accuracy our customers demand.

This may help you to understand the type of support system we offer in our Maxi-Trax. If you cut away all the welding that holds the standard track to the 2"X6"X3/16" box beam trailer frame, and place the track on the ground, you could still saw a 3,000 lb. log. The track that is added to a typical trailer frame is usually an inverted piece of ¼"X1"X1" angle iron. Our standard track uses channel iron, with 3/18"X2½"X2½" angle for track and is held crossways by 3" channel iron, with 3/16"X2"X2" tubes for log support. We don't take any of this away when it is added to the typical trailer frame. In fact we add two more channels and log supports. Using 3"X6" box tubing in a trailer design saw can't begin to compensate for the strength you get from the two track systems being truss welded together.

BUILT IN FEATURES OF OUR
MAXI-TRAX SYSTEM

Our Maxi-Trax are designed fully rigid at the sawing deck, but completely flexible as for mill or job site set up. You can choose any working height you care to work from; ground sawing to full trailer height sawing and you can do this alone! Without the log/loader turner you can load logs from either side of the mill. Your saw can even run in opposite direction of standard set up; meaning you can saw toward or away from the tongue. If you reverse the head just reverse the mobile log dogs (two minutes!) All Maxi-Trax come with 3 mobile log dogs that can be moved into a position for a log, rather than trying to position the log. This gives you a total of 9 log resting supports on a 20 ft. Maxi-Trax model track. Because of the mobility of the log dogs and optional log loader/turner (unlike other mills) you don't have to pass over the center of the mill every time you work with it, you can re-position your dogs and saw at either end, which distributes wear and stress more evenly resulting in longevity of the mill. With our backhoe style levelers and swivel feet you can set up virtually anywhere, and the mill will not wiggle away and get distorted.

Our Maxi-Trax was introduced after a year of experimental use in August of 1996. Our customer satisfaction rate to this date is 100%.

Our saw heads that sit on our Maxi frames. In head to head competition (sawmill shootouts 1999 and 2000) has come out the average winner of manual bandmills and has not been outdone by any 15 HP and 24 HP band sawmill, fully automated or not! We accomplished this by drawing the worse log lots two years in a row and in addition we had an integral motor problem in the 2000 shootout!
