NEW FROM T.A. SCHMID!! THE MAXIMIZER "S"

Built in bevel cut feature makes clapboard siding and easily makes shingles as well! This is not an attachment, it is a design feature integrated into the saw head without compromising accuracy of the mill or the precision of the cuts! This option is productive, profitable, and precise. It's as easy as shifting into 4WD on the fly!

Throw one lever and you're sawing bevel cut siding! Fast and efficient, make more profit from your logs by offering bevel cut clapboard siding.

All Maximizers now have manual hydraulic assist which enhances the raising and lowering of the sawhead!

All saws will handle up to 36" diameter logs. Deduct three feet of track length to get actual log length capacity.

"Maximizer S"

Bevel cut or clapboard siding has been a longtime favorite when it comes to siding. Even the vinyl industry has enjoyed success by imitating the clapboard look. Standard stick built homes are framed for horizontal type siding without adding any nail strapping to the framing as it is the case with vertical siding. From a sawmill standpoint, you get about 80% more sq. ft. coverage from clapboard, as compared to board and bat, using the same amount of bd. ft. If you get 20 cents a lineal ft. for 1x6, you should not have trouble getting 16 cents a lineal ft. for clapboard, based on these figures, a 1 ft. block of 6x6 will net you $1.20 in 1x6. The same block will net you $1.91 in clapboard. At these prices, 4 inch exposed board and bat, including bat, cost .67 cents a sq. ft. Clapboard would cost .48 cents a sq. ft. So this leaves alot of room for even more profit and still sell a product that gives the customer more coverage for less money. In this day and age and with world wide exposure, I'm sure someone, somewhere will test my numbers mathematically, and beg to differ, so I'll just reduce it to this and let you do your own figuring. From a 6x6 block you get 6, 1x6 conventional boards, with our clapboard saw you get 12 pcs. of clapboard and 1, 1x6.

This can really benefit the sawmill operator when it comes to utilizing small diameter logs that rarely produce profit when sawed conventionally. Of course, with our machine you are not limited to just 6 inch siding, you can make 8 and 10 inch as well, and 16 inch shakes. This has always sounded great until it came down to the methods in which a portable sawmill operator had to produce this product. Until our new saw hit the market, most operators had to use bed attachments, and they can be fine for a job here and there, but they are not very productive, which deters operators from using them in a production mode. Because of this we have designed the clapboard cutting feature right into the head itself. You put on the overlay scale of the size siding you'll be running, square up your log, and make clapboard or conventional cuts all day long without changing a thing. If you change from one size to another, simply switch to the proper overlay scale. It takes 10 seconds. The best way to describe the total effort needed to operate this feature would be to compare it to; engaging your hubs and then having four wheel drive on the fly all day long. We have done this in a way which has not compromised the accuracy of our saw. We still have positive lock board sizing except it now has twice as many thickness settings per inch as it did before allowing even finer pinpoint sizing. The new saw rises twice as easy as are old model and is hydraulically aided when lowering, for safe, easy operation. These new saw heads still sit on the strongest, most rigid sawing bed on the market, The "Maxi-Trax". In seven years, from the customers that own them, we have 100% satisfaction. It has to cost more to make them this strong but it is worth every penny. Also, every moving part, or anywhere steel on steel friction may occur within the operation of the head, there are bearings, no bushings, no steel on steel, only bearings. All 20 horsepower and up sawheads now come standard with our exclusive "Dual-Response Guide System". We use both types of guides to give you the benefits of both while counteracting the negative aspects of each type when used separately.
